Harry’s, a western wear and boot store in, San Saba, is a strong, growing Texas legacy. It all began in 1939 by lke Shapiro. His son, Harry Shapiro later joined his father as a partner In 1941, Harry and his father developed an authentic store with the reputation for extensive inventories, quality merchandise, and competitive prices. After his father’s death in 1951, Harry served as store owner and manager. He continued with the tradition of cultivating long lasting customers with authentic personal service. Mr. Shapiro was active in many civic and community organizations including serving as mayor in San Saba and director and chairman of the LCRA board.

In May of 1982, Harry died, and his family ran the business until 1988 when two former employees bought the store from the Shapiro family. Lorena Terry, employed since 1965, and David Parker, who began working at Harry’s in 1970, purchased the business with the goal of continuing to develop a customer friendly authentic western and apparel store. They continued in the Shapiro philosophy of putting the customer first.

In February of 2008, David Parker and Lorena Terry sold the store to two San Saba businessmen. Ken Jordan is an owner and operator of Jordan Cattle Auctions in San Saba and Mason. His business partner, Clay Nettleship, is a San Saba attorney and businessman. Each brings a commitment to continue to serve their customers in the Harry’s tradition. They plan extensive restoration of the Harry’s store which is located in four turn-of-the-century buildings at the intersection of Highways 16 and 190 in downtown San Saba and expansion of inventory selections to include long-standing labels that are well known by the western wear consumer, new hunting and outdoor merchandise as well as work boots and work wear selections. Their endeavors continue the tradition of personal service, great selection and low price that have made Harry’s such a resounding success.
